Construction safety resources
A starting point for crew discussions, toolbox talks and authoritative US and Canadian safety guidance.
Start with the work planned today
Identify the task, the people exposed and the site conditions before choosing a discussion topic. A news report can start a conversation; it does not establish the cause of an incident or determine your site's controls.

United States
The OSHA construction resource directory covers hazards and links to construction standards and guidance. Check the applicable federal or state-plan requirements for your work.
Canada
Use the CCOHS directory of Canadian occupational health and safety authorities to find the federal, provincial or territorial regulator for your workplace. US OSHA requirements are not Canadian regulations.
Choose a focused conversation
- Work at height: access, fall protection and scaffold arrangements.
- Excavation: ground conditions, protective systems and access.
- Lifting and equipment: lift planning, travel routes and pedestrian separation.
- Electrical and confined-space work: responsibilities, isolation and authorized procedures.
- Heat: conditions, planned controls and how workers raise concerns.
Use the responsible supervisor and competent or qualified personnel required for the task to review the site's plan. These topic prompts do not specify legal thresholds or replace training.
