Concrete wall calculator

Calculate concrete volume for a rectangular wall, including an optional rectangular opening.

Choose the unit beside each dimension. Switching units converts your measurements; it does not clear them.

Dimensions

Allow for the pour

Default 5%. Adjust from 0% to 20% for your job.

Your estimate

Enter dimensions and select Calculate concrete.

Plan the quantity. Check the order.

This is a geometric quantity estimate, not a structural design or a supplier order. Confirm field dimensions and ordering requirements before the pour. Results use full calculation precision and round only for display.

How to calculate wall concrete

  1. Choose US customary or metric units.
  2. Enter the dimensions and quantity of identical sections.
  3. Set a waste allowance suited to the job, then select Calculate concrete.
  4. Review the base volume and total with your supplier.

Formula

Volume = wall length × thickness × height, less the volume of any opening. Convert inches to feet by dividing by 12; divide cubic feet by 27 for cubic yards. Convert millimetres to metres by dividing by 1,000 before multiplying.

Worked examples

A 30 ft wall, 8 inches thick and 8 ft high uses 30 × (8 ÷ 12) × 8 = 160 ft³, or 5.926 yd³ before waste. With 5% extra: 6.222 yd³.

A 10 m wall, 200 mm thick and 2.4 m high uses 10 × 0.2 × 2.4 = 4.8 m³; with 5% extra: 5.04 m³.

Before ordering

Enter wall thickness as Width and wall height as Thickness or height. Use the rectangular void option for one contained opening per section. Estimate the footing separately.

Common questions

Can I calculate in metric units?

Yes. Select Metric and choose metres, centimetres or millimetres beside each dimension. Results include cubic metres, cubic feet and cubic yards.

How much extra concrete should I order?

The tool starts at 5% and accepts 0–20%. Actual allowances depend on measurement accuracy, forms, excavation and placement. Confirm the quantity and delivery increments with the supplier.

Does this calculate reinforcement or structural capacity?

No. It estimates geometric concrete volume. It does not design reinforcement, foundations or concrete mixes.
